Affiliate Disclosure
What happens when hardware recommendations start carrying affiliate links.

No affiliate links are running on this site at the moment, and no affiliate program has been joined. This page describes the rules that apply from the first link onward, and it is dated so that the status is checkable.
How affiliate links will work
Some articles compare hardware, because "will this run on my card" often ends in "then which card should I buy". Where that happens, links to retailers may earn a commission on a purchase. The price you pay does not change.
Every such link follows the same rules:
- Marked at the point of use, not only in a footer.
- Tagged with the appropriate link relationship attributes for paid or affiliate links.
- Placed in articles that would exist without them.
- Never styled to look like a download button, a navigation item, or part of the article's own instructions.
What a commission may not influence
A commission does not change what a measurement says. Recommendations follow the numbers in the compatibility database, which are taken before any purchasing question is asked. When the honest recommendation is to buy nothing, or to buy the cheaper option, or to buy used, the article says that, and it says so whether or not a link earns anything.
No retailer or manufacturer gets to review an article, approve a conclusion or suggest a change to one. Hardware sent for review, if it ever is, is disclosed in the article that covers it, and the disclosure appears before the conclusions rather than after.
Ratio
Pages built mainly out of affiliate links with a paragraph of text wrapped around them are not published here. If an article cannot carry its own weight as a measurement, adding links does not fix it.
Advertising
Display advertising is separate from affiliate links and is not running yet either. When it starts, ad units are kept visually distinct from download buttons and navigation, and the privacy page is updated first to describe what the network does.
